In case you're wondering
It's been a fairly long time since 0.03a was released, at least by my standards, and some of you are probably wondering if I'm asleep on the job (or worse!).
Well, it's the nature of the beast - some things are easier to do (and fix) than others, and I'd more or less run out of easy options and had to actually do some work for a change. I think the results are worth it though - ALL of the posted bugs are now fixed, and there are some new features too (well, I've got to have some new bugs to fix, haven't I? ) as well as a small change to the UI to make it physically slightly smaller, and able to fit an 800x600 screen.
After this, it all depends on Bob finishing the migration of Protocol 19 before I can do a lot more. I expect version 0.04a to be the final UI-only release, then we can get down to what it's really all about: Ahhh, the smell of burning electronics - nothing else like it!
0.04a should be available sometime this weekend, barring unforseen disasters of course.

you're right, Stu. We were wondering what her name is. Seems to be in time (and of course in budget) though. Have a nice i.e. successful weekend.
MP2 V0.04a is now up.
Hi Stuart,
in V0.4a there's a strange resizing effect when changing from tile to cascade and back again and then editing. I sent a screen shot to your eMail Address.
Regards, Bruce Elliott
by the way ... the "Settings" aren't being saved. I assume that that is normal for the current version?
It seems to be that a paint message is going adrift somewhere - try opening two windows and switching between them, watch the behaviour of the horizontal scroll bars...
Ultimately, I might just get rid of the "classic MDI" operating mode and leave a straight choice between MicroPro and fixed-size tabbed windows. At the moment, most of my development effort has gone into making MicroPro mode work as it should - native mode has been neglected a bit.
As for the settings... Only the settings that are actually implemented get saved, i.e. everything on the MP-II Mode tab, and some stuff on the Warnings and General tabs.
The rest of it will be brought into play when I've got Bob's firmware to play with, until then I don't plan on doing much more to MP2.
any indication from Bob, when he might get around to finishing the firmware? Maybe he "outsource" that as well?
I must admit I've been thinking along the lines of "DonkeyProg 2.0"...
That is, doing a complete rewrite of the DonkeyProg firmware to make it P19-compatible (maybe not complete - it already has some similarities), and see where we go from there.
As I've only got some minor tidying up to do on MP2, I may well get started on this sometime this week if I can find some time - I've heard nothing from Bob about the genuine article...
Hi Stuart,
just saw the DonkeyProg Home Page and assume that you're off with C#. Maybe that's better in the end. I suspect Bob will be fighting Bugs and fixing Boards for the next few months and not get around to releasing any firmware. Good Luck!
Well, I am starting to wonder what's going on at Bob's end - I suspect he's got other priorities, and like all of us he has to pay the bills.
Likewise, my own commercial activities take precedence so I can sort of understand the squeeze he's in. As I said on the DonkeyProg page, I'm looking into producing an alternative. It won't be quick, but (thanks to VS2005) it WILL be pretty - just think Office 2003... (APPEAL: Could somebody "artistic" knock up some nice alpha blended true colour replacements for the ZIF socket placement pictures in MP2/MicroPro?)
Anyway, I feel another blog entry coming on...
